The images above and below are the two sides of the 1919 “Peace Medal” that was usually given to School Children to mark the signing of the Treaty of Versailles and thus officially ending the First World War. Signed on the 28th of June 1919 exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. One side of the Medal carries the Rawtenstall Town Crest and is dated 1919.
